Jurying Date

Thank you to everyone who submitted art to Southern Menagerie!  Because we extended the deadline, we have had to reschedule the jurying.  We are currently working on coordinating schedules to get everyone together, so once we have set the date for the jury, we’ll post it here.  Please subscribe to our blog or check back frequently.  We apologize for the inconvenience!

Call for Artists

The Junior League of Raleigh, Inc. (JLR) and Visual Art Exchange (VAE) present the Southern Menagerie juried art exhibition, November 3-6, 2011. This exhibit is a special feature of the JLR’s A Shopping SPREE!, an annual four-day shopping fundraiser that attracts approximately 12,000 shoppers annually from around the country.

Southern Menagerie will be juried by Melissa Peden and Megg Rader (see Jurors tab for more information about these prestigious jurors). We will award  more than $1,000 in prizes.

Artists may enter up to two (2) pieces exploring this year’s theme of Southern Menagerie. This exhibit is open to all two-dimensional artwork, excluding photography, by living Carolina artists.  Please send check or money orders only.

Entry deadline:  September 26, 2011.

Please send the following materials to JLR by September 26, 2011. The jurying results will be posted October 10, 2011 on https://carolinacolor.wordpress.com and www.visualartexchange.org.

  • $20 nonrefundable entry fee (make checks payable to Junior League of Raleigh)
  • Artist statement & resume
  • Optional: Self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of application materials.
  • Up to two JPEGs of your work on CD or via email to carolinacolorgallery@jlraleigh.org.

*All entries must be digital. Artists may submit up to two works in JPEG format on CD or by emailing them to carolinacolorgallery@jlraleigh.org. Image files must be labeled with the artist’s last name followed by 01 an d 02 (e.g. Smith01, Smith02). All CDs/images must be readable by PC platforms. File sizes cannot exceed 2MB with resolution of at least 72 DPI. Images should be oriented correctly. DO NOT submit PowerPoint presentations, automated slide presentations or work on a DVD.
